A new brand of Hokkaido rice debuted in 2020. YUKI, which means snow in Japanese, represents its whiteness when cooked, and each grain of rice is big and beautiful. It is characterised by a slightly stiff and firm texture, being of high amylose and low protein content. The rice is therefore less sticky and has a lighter flavor. The production gives a higher crop yield compared to other Hokkaido rice like ‘Nanatsuboshi’ and so offers a more affordable price to customers. Oxygen absorber packets help to preserve freshness of rice and prevent growth of pests, with no side effects.
